Following that epic swell I caught in Jbay at the end of September (click to see post ) I was still in Jbay to write and shoot a feature for an international women’s surfing magazine. The girls finally sitting still at Nina’s , the family run restaurant

This was such a fun project. It was so great to work with Gina, who is a talented writer and shooting the photos was a special experience.Emma, Gina and Zoe Smith are 3 very special individuals and talented surfers and this some of what we captured in working on this project.

Zoe Smith

In the words of her sister, Gina “my little sister is spirited, smart caring and a laugh a minute and a little loopy”

Competitively Zoe is still finding her feet. However she already has represented her province and with time I’m certain she will be a force to be reckoned with on the local contest scene

Gina Smith

Gina is the middle “child” of the 3 and provides the stability and calmness between her 2 crazy sisters. Although a bit more serious than the other 2, Gina is still loads of fun to be around. She is also a very down to earth and caring individual and is a good listener.

As a surfer I feel Gina is a little underrated. She is a natural talent and works hard and it was good to see her being rewarded with a place in the national junior team that went to the junior world surfing games this year after wining the national junior title in 2012.

Gina has just finished school and I have no doubt she will be giving her surfing a little more attention.

The brief for the article was “The girls of J-Bay” and at the center of it were the 3 gorgeous Smith sisters.

Gina Smith was to write a personal account of what it was like to live and play in the vibrant little town of Jefferys Bay.

Zoe is too much fun. She is the youngest of the 3 and is a very happy-go-lucky young lady.

She is very passionate about surfing and defiantly has the talent and flair that her older sisters possess
