Late season is always a bit of a gamble and with the forecasts showing epic east swell coupled with hectic onshore winds, I was expecting this to be one of those hurry-up-and-wait missions.

However, the winds were not as bad as predicted and I scored some epic surf. In the run up to SA junior champs (click for that blog) we were blessed with some great, windless weather and a small but fun swell that allowed me some quality time with the groms. This ended up being another absolutely awesome trip with some great shots captured. I was particularly stoked to work closely with some new up-and-coming talent. In particular those from KZNC impressed with their good attitude and immense talent and it was no coincidence that they went on to win the team trophy at SA champs!

A J-Bay trip would not be complete without the generous spoiling from the Smith family and the amazing food from their restaurant, Nina’s! So a big thank you to them

7 images that I think sum up this adventure Tanika Hoffman. My second favourite shot of the trip purely because of the effort that went into this creation. This shot did not “just happen” a lot of patience (and luck) was needed. It did help that Tanika was super amped and killing it out there!

Light was a constant issue on this trip but when it came, it was often spectacular!

Sophie Bell was pleasure to work with. Such a talent and deserved her National title!

Gina Smith has been ripping all year! Stoked to be able to work with such an amazing individual

Sebastian Williams launches into the light onshore breeze
