The light is usually of a better quality and allows one to create dramatic images even if the subject matter is a little on the bland side.<\/p>\n<p>Being on the west coast of South Africa I am constantly fighting harsh light and glare due to predominate back lighting.<br \/>\nUnder normal circumstances back lighting, for me, does not work too well.<br \/>\nHowever.<br \/>\nWhen the sun starts to sink towards the horizon and the sky lights up in a brilliant golden hue, the possibility of some interesting image, like silhouettes is on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chappypix.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/shot13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-438\" title=\"shot1\" src=\"http:\/\/chappypix.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/shot13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"http:\/\/chappypix.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/shot13.jpg 600w, http:\/\/chappypix.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/shot13-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Justin Stevens<\/strong>, LLandudno golden silhouette<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I enjoy trying to shoot interesting surfing silhouettes.<br \/>\nThe natural shape of a surfer lends itself nicely to this type of image.<br \/>\nFor me, a silhouette is all about a interesting and graphic shape against a clean dramatic background while being lit from behind the subject.<\/p>\n<p>I also love soft, low light from the side.<br \/>\nThis particular situation enhances the texture in the image.<br \/>\nThis light is also great for adding some movement to the picture by slowing the shutter speed to create an eye pleasing speed blur<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chappypix.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/shot23.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-439\" title=\"shot2\" src=\"http:\/\/chappypix.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/shot23.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"http:\/\/chappypix.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/shot23.jpg 600w, http:\/\/chappypix.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/shot23-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Uknown exits the water in <strong>Kommetjie<\/strong> as the sun sets<\/em><\/p>\n<p>My Favorite has got to be sunrise up the East coast.<br \/>\nThere sheer quality of light (compared to Cape Town) is worth making the effort for.
