I am an enthusiast surfing photographer based in Cape Town, South Africa.
I am not a natural creative and photography was "discovered"
by accident in 1998.
My first batch of photo's , taken at my local beach, received much encouragement
from my surfing friends.
As i lived right by a super fun surfing break I become more interested with
surfing photography.
In 2006, while studying a Business Degree, I decided to take my photography
more seriously and upgraded my basic film camera and lenses.
Very soon after acquiring a decent long lens and a fantastic Canon EOS 3
film SLR camera, I landed my first double page spread in ZigZag surfing
magazine.
In 2008 i reluctantly went digital.
Since then I have had a number of photos published locally and internationally.
These include:
ZigZag surfing magazine, Saltwater girl surf surfing magazine, Carve surf mag,
Coven Magazine, Photography Monthly magazine, Saltwater Girl Magazine, Womens Surf Style Magazine
and local newspapers
I have also shot surf advertising for a number of brands including: O'Neill
South Africa, Billabong South Africa and Reef Wetsuits South Africa
I have covered surfing contests including: The Bloodscan J-Bay challenge,
RipCurl Grom search, the Western Province surfing champs, RVCA events at
Melkbos and Strand and the Oneill ColdWater Classic.
In 2012 I was awarded the Media Award from Western Province Surfing.
I see myself as primarily a Surfing photographer.
I am willing to try new forms of photography as long as it is of interest
to me.
I have received a little creative training in the form of a Dynamic photography
certificate from the National Collage of Photography and Photoshop CS4 training
from Mekon in England.\
Outside of photography I have a Bcomm degree specializing in Economics
and Business Management.
I have an active interest in local and international current affairs.
I enjoy the outdoors and try live a fit and healthy lifestyle with "mild"
interests in running and swimming.
