A couple hours and a bit from Cape Town, up the west coast, there is a decent left hand point break.
With some serious goofy-foot surfer girl talent this mission had tons of potential.
Sadly, this being the west coast, the weather (read light) did not play along and my chances of nailing that special A-Grade image disappeared fast.
However the girls were super amped to hit the fun lefts and there was no complaining about the cold from anyone… except me. It was damn cold on the beach and could not have been any better in the water.
The West Coast in winter is not for sissies!
With a crew of sufers girls like Chantelle Rautenbach, Tarryn Chudleigh, Sarah Baum and Nikita Robb, the standard of surfing was always going to be high but the standard went past the exceptional. These girls, on their forehand attacked the good lefts, with style, grace and power!
It was an awesome display of surfing and great to watch
Chantelle Rautenbach for me was the most outstanding surfer on this mission. This young lady possesses a huge front side hack that I was treated to several times. The speed and control of her surfing was really impressive.

Sarah Baum is one serious talent! Billed as South Africa’s next big thing in the world of surfing, she did not disappoint. Sarah is from the new school and she showed that with a few airs and quick snaps.

Tarryn Chudleigh, stoked to have a long left to play in, impressed with some critical turns and sheer enthusiasm. A highlight was watching Tarryn trying to “pull in” to a foamie! With no chance of getting barreled, she tried anyway.
Tarryn Chudleigh
Nikita Robb, one of my favorite surfers, showed her ability that put her on the world tour. This surfer girl is all about power. Big arcing turns and the odd bash is her game. It’s a game she is very good at too.

This was an awesome group of sufer girls that made this an awesome mission.
I was disappointed with the light and had to work extra hard to create an interesting image but we got a few.
Very stoked to have been part of this.
