NO!
This is officially the first OVER-HYPED swell of the year!
Maybe the data was corrupted or a broken algorithm in the computer models or someone stuffed up but things where not what they were supposed to be.
Saturday morning dawned to inconsistent 1 to 2 foot soft waves that struggled to break over the high tide reef in Kalk Bay.
A fun little wave did pull in every half hour or so, but was way off the 4 to 6 foot, tunnels that was expected.
HOWEVER there was still a crowd in the line-up?!
At one stage I counted more than 20 surfers and body boarders bobbing up and down, catching no more than a common cold!
The height of optimism? , Is it ignorant stupidity? Or is it a psychotic desire to ride Kalk Bay reef, no matter what?
Whatever it is,
I did not hear a single person say, “ Good surf that, Stoked!”
Most surfers ended up being in a worse mood after their “paddle”.
So the moral of the story is, If the charts say a 6m , ssw swell, False Bay will be flat so don’t bother…
The Chart that caused all the confusion. 6m at 12seconds for Saturday morning…yeah right!
Another surfer tried and failed to enjoy what was supposed to be epic surf.
Every now and then a fun wave pulled in, This was as good as it got!
Amazing that a wave like this went un ridden. they only came through every half hour!
Bodyboarder lucks in to a fun one.
The post lunch crowd. Are you kidding me , what are those two paddling for…
Not much better in the afternoon either.
Fisheye view of the set up and no Great White sharks spotted for a while.
