A spur of the moment decision to chase a new years swell up the East coast of South Africa ended in being the most enjoyable surf trip yet with some great surfing images captured.
The week before Christmas saw some really good surf in Cape Town.
My focus during the week was the beach breaks of the South Peninsular.
I was asked to shoot a family photo the other day.
This is not usually my thing but I as very keen to give it a go, as I have known the family for many years and includes a pair of very charismatic twins.
Kommetjie was in a festive mood yesterday!
A good summer swell was running, the water was freezing cold and the surfing was red hot.
There is Warm water around Cape Town. Honest!
If you know where to look you will find a coast that is home to some amazing beaches and warm water.
So when the air temperature soared to 30 degrees Celsius yesterday, we went in search of some warm water fun.
Some Fun waves in Kommetjie the last couple of days. Waves came with a “bit” of wind and cold-water temperatures but there were a few fun ones for the surfers to play with…
Summer here in Cape Town is coupled with a fierce South East wind.
This wind is onshore in False Bay and if it blows long and hard enough, it can bring some really fun surf.
